User guide Displays
External displays
Show the notch on a display that doesn't have one.
Most displays don’t have a notch, so Warble can draw one of its own at the top centre of the screen. It works the same way as the real one: hover over it or click it to open it.
What happens by default
- On a MacBook with a notch, Warble uses the notch while the lid is open. When you close the lid and use an external display, the notch moves to the display that has the menu bar.
- On a Mac without a notch, such as a Mac mini or an older MacBook Air, Warble draws one on the display that has the menu bar.
Other displays don’t show a notch until you choose to show one.
Choose where the notch shows
- Click the Warble icon in the menu bar.
- Choose Notch on Displays, then the display you want to change.
- Choose one of these:
- Always shows a notch on that display all the time, as well as the one on your MacBook.
- When There’s No Notch shows it only when your MacBook’s lid is closed, or if your Mac doesn’t have a notch.
- Off never shows a notch on that display.
The change takes effect straight away. Warble remembers each display, so the setting comes back when you plug that display in again.
Full-screen apps
When an app is full screen, it has the whole display to itself, so the notch on that display hides until you leave full screen.
