When nothing shows

Find out why Warble can't see what's playing, and fix it.

Warble normally shows whatever plays in any app, your browser included. If something stops it, a small ! appears beside the notch, even when nothing is playing.

See what’s wrong

  1. Click the ! beside the notch. If something is playing, you can also hover over the notch and click the ! next to the song.
  2. Read the list. Each check shows a tick when it’s fine. A check with a problem says what’s wrong and has a button that fixes it.

When everything is fixed, the ! goes away. If you don’t want to fix something now, click Not Now, and the ! stays hidden until you open Warble again.

Reading what’s playing

Warble reads what’s playing directly from macOS. If it can’t, it falls back to following only Music and Spotify.

  • Part of Warble is missing. Click Download Warble and install it again.
  • macOS won’t let Warble read what’s playing. This can happen after a macOS update. Click Check for Updates to get the version of Warble that works with it.
  • This kept stopping. Click Open Warble Again. If it keeps happening, check for updates.

Permission for Music and Spotify

While Warble follows Music and Spotify itself, it needs your permission to control them. macOS asks the first time each one plays. If you clicked Don’t Allow:

  1. Click Open Settings next to Permission.
  2. Under Warble, turn on Music or Spotify.
  3. Play something. The ! goes away when the song shows.

Players

While Warble follows only Music and Spotify, other apps, such as your browser, don’t show. If neither is open, click Open Music, or open Spotify, and play something.
