Set a sleep timer
Fall asleep to a podcast or an audiobook, and have it pause after a set time or at the end of the chapter or episode.
Listen in bed without leaving it playing all night. A sleep timer pauses what’s playing after 15 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour, or when the current track ends. It’s off at first.
Turn it on
- Right-click the notch, or click the Warble icon in the menu bar, and choose Settings….
- Choose Notch.
- Turn on Show a sleep timer in the player.
Start a timer
- Hover over the notch, or click it, to open the player.
- Click the moon button at the bottom, beside the output button.
- Choose 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour or End of track.
While the timer runs, the moon shows how long is left. For End of track it says End instead, since the time depends on the episode. If you skip ahead or back in the episode, Warble works the end out again.
When time is up, the app pauses, and the notch then behaves as it does after any pause: it stays for a few seconds, then goes back to being a notch.
Change it or turn it off
- Open the player and click the moon.
- Choose another time to replace the one running, or choose Turn off.
Turning off Show a sleep timer in the player in Settings also stops a timer that’s running.
When a timer stops by itself
A sleep timer is for a listener who is still listening. It stops, and doesn’t come back, when:
- You pause. You’ve stopped listening, so there’s nothing left to time. Starting to play again doesn’t bring it back; set a new one.
- The app stops playing, or you quit it.
- With End of track, the app moves on to the next episode or chapter before the end. Warble pauses it there rather than let the next one play.
A timer can only start while something is playing, and it never starts by itself.
